North Queensland Fury release Daniel McBreen to Perth Glory
January 13, 2010 North Queensland Fury have released Daniel McBreen from the remainder of his A-League contract, enabling the striker to join Perth Glory for the rest of this season.
McBreen had already agreed to join Central Coast Mariners for the 2010-2011 campaign.
The move has opened the door for Fury to snap up Glory defender Jimmy Downey in a swap deal, though paperwork finalising the 22-year-old's move to Townsville is yet to be completed.
“We knew Daniel wasn't going to be here next year,” Fury coach Ian Ferguson said in a statement on Wednesday.
“Perth were interested in him and we liked the look of young Jimmy Downey.
“It looks like it will work out well for everyone and hopefully well have Jimmy travel to Wellington with us for Friday night's match against the Phoenix.”
McBreen made 21 appearances for the Fury, scoring three goals, while Downey made three appearances off the bench this season for the Glory.

McBreen seems like a good player, who can score some goals, good purchase by the Glory. Hopefully he fires next season.
