Australian Open 2010 Empty Australian Open 2010

The Aussie Open starts on the 18th of Jan and goes to the 31st of Jan.

On the Men's side Roger Federer will go into the tournament as favourite. Defending champion Rafael Nadal will be out to defend his title.

You would expect the guys like Roddick, Nadal Del Potro, Andy Murray and Djokovic to go far into the second week and contend for the Australian Open Title.

On the Women's side, there's a mixture of past champions, plus some exciting up and coming younger players. Defending champion Serena Williams will go into the first Grand Slam of the year as favourite, just ahead of Belgium comeback queen Kim Clijsters

I think Federer will take out the mens Title and Serena to take out the womens title.

Maria Sharapova got knocked out in the first round today by Maria Kirelinko which was rather suprising, but she was coming back from a long injury layoff. Andy Murray cruised past a qualifier. Nadal plays Peter Luzcek tonight, which hopefully will be a good match. It's rather annoying that they don't have any coverage of the outside courts which is usually shown on Fox Sports but they aren't showing any Tennis.

Haha, Federer got through in a four setter against Igor Andreev, it was a quality match.

Hewitt easily gets through to the second round. Nadal had a bit of a fight against Luczek last night but got through in straight sets. Jelena Dokic was knocked out last night in straight sets.

EDIT: Alicia Molik has been knocked out in the first round. losing in a three setter to Julie Coin.
